Reading Proverbs 2 today got me thinking how little wisdom I actually have, and how readily the God of the Universe wants to give us his.
To paraphrase verses 2-4: If you turn to a glimmer of what God says is true, you will find truth in Him.¬† To put it next to John 8:32 “Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” So much goodness in God wanting to give us HIS wisdom!
So what changes when you get a glimmer into God’s wisdom? He shows you how far off base your thinking really is!¬† This is convicting my heart today in considering my time and my resources. And it truly does lead into verse nine below – that you understand what is right, fair and just.
Can I just say an Amen that it’s not us who must have all the knowledge as to what is going on? AMEN!!¬† Seriously, when I don’t know how we are going to do all the home renovations in front of us, or keep my mind focused at work…that I can trust I WILL NEVER have the understanding and I might have a glimpse of God’s understanding if I ask for it.
1 My son, if you accept my words
and store up my commands within you,
2 turning your ear to wisdom
¬†¬†¬†¬†and applying your heart to understanding‚ÄĒ
3 indeed, if you call out for insight
    and cry aloud for understanding,
4 and if you look for it as for silver
and search for it as for hidden treasure,
5 then you will understand the fear of the Lord
and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the Lord gives wisdom;
from his mouth come knowledge and understanding.
7 He holds success in store for the upright,
he is a shield to those whose walk is blameless,
8 for he guards the course of the just
and protects the way of his faithful ones.
9 Then you will understand what is right and just
¬†¬†¬†¬†and fair‚ÄĒevery good path.
10 For wisdom will enter your heart,
and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.
11 Discretion will protect you,
    and understanding will guard you.
